NG2G Trap & Maasai Pastoralists
Nguruman, Kenya (1995) |
Since 1987
simple cloth traps have been used for sustainable vector control by farming
communities in diverse settings in East Africa. The NG2G trap is the classic example of an
economical and efficient trap adapted for use by pastoralists. For many years it has been
used for the control of a major vector of cattle trypanosomosis, the tsetse fly Glossina
pallidipes.
The Nzi trap is
a major improvement on this approach,
providing increased efficiency for most types of
biting flies. |
ANYONE
can produce the Nzi, NG2G and similar fly traps to suit their needs
based on information in the public
domain. |
